Dairy Cow Reproductive Services

Reproductive Health Management

Our team can assist with managing and improving your herd’s reproductive health and efficiency. Through regularly scheduled herd health checks and data analysis, we can assure that your herd is achieving optimal reproductive efficiency by monitoring pregnancy and conception rates, herd inventory, genetics, nutrition and overall health and wellness.

Pregnancy / Open Examination

One of the most important aspects of herd health is determining which cows are open so that you can take the appropriate actions quickly. By identifying open cows, you can help determine their breeding future and have them rebred quickly or decide which cows should be removed from the herd.

Dairy herds rely on accurate pregnancy test results to ensure consistent and sustainable production throughout the year. We provide pregnancy examinations via ultrasound to determine pregnancy as early as 27-28 days after breeding. Plus, we can help identify cows that are carrying twins.

Fetal Sexing

With ultrasound, we can determine the sex of the fetus between 58-70 days of gestation. This is an accurate and safe way to identify the gender of unborn calves. In addition, fetal sexing can aid in identifying calves at birth and decisions surrounding the sale of cattle.

Embryo Transfer

If you are looking to quickly multiply the genetics of the top females in your herd, Gull Lake Veterinary Services can assist with embryo transfer. We can aid with setting up superovulation protocols, flushing embryos, implanting embryos into recipients or freezing embryos for future implantation.
